Approach & About

As a clinical psychologist, I work with adults on general mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, body image issues, relationship issues, family-of-origin matters, women's issues, identity development, and life transitions. My therapeutic style focuses on interpersonal relationships, with the goal of creating or maintaining meaningful bonds with others and addressing chronic, painful, unmet needs. I utilize emotion focused therapy, attachment theory, and CBT/ACT strategies to address your concerns.

My initial task is to help you communicate a clear picture of your concerns and identify your desired outcome(s). I work to help you explore important historical and developmental experiences, family dynamics and attachments, and the role that these may play in shaping your thoughts, feelings, and actions. I will listen attentively to your experience, while also attending to information that may be out of your awareness at the time. Essential to our work is a healing therapeutic relationship, which includes a solid connection between therapist and client, a commitment to working through difficult issues together, and a respectful, consistent, and nurturing environment. You should feel both challenged and motivated in our work together, as we collaborate to create clear goals and path to change that utilizes your individual strengths.

Through the combination of developing insight into your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and by practicing new skills and ways of relating to yourself and others, it is hoped that you will heal emotional pain, increase self-understanding, improve relationships, and cope more effectively with future challenges.
